I have absolutley no experience with DVRs of any kind yet, so take this for what it's worth. If the quality of the output of your unit is satisfactory on playthrough and playback it seems reasonable to assume you have adequate signal level. If it is only the fast forward and rewind that are affected, this appears to be a problem that originates in the DVR itself, as the video is already recorded and stored within the DVR at that point. I would check whatever adjustable settings and parameters your machine has. Perhaps there are multiple recording methods or compression schemes available, and you are currently on a high-compression mode that may cause slow rewind/ff. As I said, I don't have any experience with this type of equipment, but am just using some rudimentary logic to begin a troubleshooting process. If anybody knows differently and can straighten me out if I am in error on any of my assumptions I would appreciate it. Good luck on getting things working well.
