Re: Highest gas prices in history are a few days a

During the "gas wars" of the late 60's, gas prices dropped below 20 cents per gallon from a normal price of 35 cents per gallon. The price of a new house then was $25,000 a new car $2500, a good paying job was $75 per week. Now a new house costs $250,000, a new car $25,000 and a good paying job (at 18.75 per hour) is $750 per week. The Amoco in my town is charging $1.61 per gallon. If you put things in perspective, the price of a gallon of gas should be $3.50 per gallon normally and the $1.61 they are charging now is one of the lowest gas prices in history. Also don't forget that the tax on gas is currently 43.2 cents per gallion.
