Bushnell Yardage Pro 500 or better is what I've used and it was always accurate to within 1-2'. Typical requiremens are within 1-2 tolarance per 100'. I would recommend having the scan function when shooting the poles as it makes it very obvious when you hit a target in front of or behind the pole. I also would recommend frequently wheeling spans to make comparisons just in case. I feel that a rangefinder is more accurate that a wheel anyhow because you are measuring the actual distance between poles and not the contour of the ground. Hope this helps. I have bought a few of E-bay and never been disappointed. There are more accurate lazers that will give you a tolerance of =- 1" but they start in the $2000 range. Hope this helps
