Sweepdude is correct. Same deal on the engineering side. We have always based our prices for mapping, design, and drafting on strand / trench footage. We get requests for hourly pricing from many of our Telco clients, but lately even they are leaning more towards footage rates based on linear distance.
Most of the newer N+1 or N+1+1 designs we're doing use a lot of express feeds and backfeeds, so expect to see more of it in the future.
