ASI vs GBE for on demand transport

I am struggling with the decision of going with a low cost DVB/ASI transport or investing the money in a Gig E transport and utilizing MPLS technology. I have a large state wide ring with some spurs here and there. Can anyone give me the pro's and cons of each?
