yes the gripper was some idiots idea of a way to save on ins. claims, but you're right it is dangerous. you use 2 safetys .when u get to a drop or tel. swap one on top then the other real pain in the ass ,all it does is give rookies false security. then in the real world they are lost. but you know tel. companies sometimes they go overboard in the search of safety and lower ins. cost
