If you going to spend any money on a rebuilt do a 750 MHz rebuilt not a 550 MHz. Most 550 equipments are old and do not reflect today's need for a bi-directionnal system.
How to adjust the return system.
1- I use a + 15 dBmV input at the input of the housing + the test point loss.
2- Hope ypur test point loss are 20 dB dir. coupler, because high impedance 30 dB test point sucks.
3- Aling you fiber link first and hit the CMTS at 0.0 dBmV
4- Move to the next amp. and do the same as the fiber link.
5- Then next amp and so on.
