Re: Just curious

It says, "should not be presumed credible." This just means that the account was created anonymously, so just because it says "John Smith" and "CableDudes, Inc." one should not take that for granted. The statement is merely a warning that the info may not be authentic.

There are always people posing as other people trying to make them look bad or whatever. They may post an ad using false identification to try to get some information from you that you wouldn't normally provide if you knew who they really were. Maybe they're actually your competition trying to get prices or other kinds of confidential information. Then there are the creeps who sell stolen or broken stuff or just never deliver.

I don't have enough time to administer the site properly as it is, much less check the validity of every message that is posted every day of the week. I'm not about to make everyone who wants to post have to register or pay a fee either. So as a compromise, I added the option to become verified for those who wish to do so, and the warning on the accounts for those who don't.

If you don't want the warning, then yes there's a $2/mth. fee (possibly deductible as a business expense) and for now it does require a credit card. The credit card makes the verification simpler and less likely for someome to fake. The fees don't go into my pocket, even though for the work I put into the site I certainly would deserve it. The intent of the fees is to hire an administration service that would answer emails and monitor the activity on the site, and with that accomplished do some marketing to companies that could use the member's services and products.
