Nashville is definitely a happening place. They have seen a good number of large corporations (like Nissan) move their headquarters there in the last few years, and the list is still growing. There is also Clarksville, 30 miles north of Nashville, which is next to Ft. Campbell, home to the 101st Airborne and a huge army post. Pay rates have dropped some, but it depends on what you do.
