Ever drink any Pearl beer Micro? That was a Texas Staple in the 70's. Orange never smelled funny to me. You are probably remembering driving thru Sulpur leaving Orange just before you get to the Lake Charles area. Stinks like hell to this day but not as bad as a paper mill.
