IBEW Local 1393. Based on experience. Will pay above skill based on experience. Health insurance and 401K available. Overtime work on a weekly basis. Project is projected through December of 2020. Long term options on other future project work.
Qualifications
Knowledge of Fiber to the Home project splicing and testing. Computer skills. Project requires interaction with the customer, general public and homeowners.

Job Description
Major Job Elements
• Adhere to and advance Henkels & McCoy’s Safety Principles Work with foreman/construction manager to plan installations as required.
• Use and understand the fiber optic color code. Read prints Install and test fiber cable in a variety of environments.
• Bond and ground fibers according to current specifications.
• Place splice closures along with a variety of other closures common to the splicing and termination of fiber optic cables.
• Use fiber fusion splicing machines (including a mass fusion splicing machine) and operate a variety of different OTDR and power meters.
• Perform testing utilizing OTDRs, Power Meter/Light Sources and VFLs. Record and document testing per customer specifications.
• Maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers at all times.
• 2+ years of experience as a fiber splicer with experience on outside plant or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and system documentation.
• Will have a thorough working knowledge of most widely used construction practices of fiber cable.
• Must have the experience to detect safety issues and work independently.
• A pre-employment, on site skills assessment certification will be required. The applicant must successfully prove to the satisfaction of the construction supervision that he/she possesses the fiber splicing abilities required for this position.
• This position requires significant time doing manual labor functions, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding. Must be able to perform heavy physical work and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Work up to 6 days per week in an all -weather environment and be willing to travel as required.
• All applicants must follow safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment at all times.
