Qualifications
Strong Aerial Construction Background with Placement of Fiber Optic Cable
Valid US Driver’s License, clean driving record.
Ability to read & understand maps, drawings, & diagrams for fiber construction.
Fiber & Outside Plant knowledge.
History of adhering to safety procedures & practices.
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Attention to detail/strong organizational skills.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and perform repetitive physical motions.
Other Requirements
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
4+ years of telecommunications experience required.
Experience as a “Construction Inspector” is preferred.
Job Description
The Fiber OSP Construction Inspector oversees, monitors, and inspects construction activities to ensure requirements of design, drawings, specifications, regulations, and industry practices are being met in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner. This position delivers quality assurance of all construction activities, providing confidence that requirements are consistently fulfilled. The field staff will coordinate the various activities on the project and also take detailed records of the installed fiber cable.
Primary Job Responsibilities Include:
Overall construction supervision.
Ensure adherence to construction maps.
Understand and implement local construction methods and procedures as required.
Review permits and Right-Of-Way (ROW) considerations and requirements.
Witness and monitor work activities, inspections, and testing in accordance with approved quality plans, site surveillance plans, ITPs, procedures, and processes.
Ensure compliance with NESC and Industry Specifications while OSP is being constructed.
Complete “As-Built” forms for delivery to Engineers.
Perform quality inspections on work currently performed or work that has been recently completed, utilizing established checklists and/or other quality related documents.
Maintain records and prepare inspection reports.
Other related duties as assigned.
