Job Description
H&M is currently seeking an OSP Network Planner for its Telecom program in Detroit, Michigan.
The OSP Network Planner will be responsible for the development, coordination, maintenance of the ESRI based fiber management system. This includes interacting with customer, engineers, designers, quality, and construction personnel to implement a functional and cost effective system. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
The position is located at the Detroit, Michigan metro area office.
Major Job Elements:
• Provide administrative management of the network GIS system being utilized for design and construction of the fiber network
• Ensure engineering/design activities comply with company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule
• Coordinate efforts across subcontractor platforms to ensure compatibility and integration of systems
• Provide technical support for construction, including participation in construction planning
• Support the development or acquisition of applications to facilitate field reporting, as-builds, records reporting including inspections, bills of materials, and progress tracking
• Assist in the development and implementation of field computer applications to facilitate the control and collection of data for mapping (gps)(gis)(kmz), inspection, quantity performance, schedule performance, as-build documentation, and subcontract administration
• Coordinate with the professional services firm(s) to assure completeness and correctness of design and construction documents
• Ensure that engineering deliverables are compatible with client’s requirements
Qualifications:
• Have five years of project experience. Two (+) years in telecom preferred
• BS Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technologies, or Construction Management preferred. Relevant project field experience may be substituted for education
• Must have computer skills in MS. Office programs, field applications for surveying and data management
• Have a high level of written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office program, OSP record data base applications, and computer aided drafting systems
• Ability to perform field site meets; meet with developers, customers, local agencies
• Fiber management and splice coordinator
• Network Placing (Lineman)
• Construction experience
• Skilled with ESRI ArcGIS, Autodesk AutoCAD, KMZ
