Job Description

Job Summary:

Connection One, Inc. specializes in splicing and testing outside plant fiber optic cable, and we are seeking experienced fiber optic splicing technicians. This is for permanent full-time employment in the Tucson Arizona.
We provide invaluable training to be the best fiber splicer in the business. You will be compensated for what you know and are recognized for professionalism and leadership.

Responsibilities:

The ideal applicant will be experienced in prepping outside plant fiber optic cables into splice enclosures, understanding and adhering to the special requirements of fiber optic strands. You have in-depth understanding of fusion splicing along with OTDR testing and link loss testing.
Splicing on new construction and restoration for a variety of cable types such as loose tube, ribbon, micro, and OPGW.
Fiber Characterization test experience including CD, PMD, OTDR, IOLM, and Power Loss.

-Work with the Network Operations Center for final acceptance and testing of all newly installed equipment and rings.
Perform advanced analysis and troubleshooting of problems.

-You possess and demonstrate a high level of professionalism with the ability to communicate construction scenarios clearly to other team members or outside parties.

-Work in conjunction with field engineering to update records.

-You must be able to fluently read telecom or cable outside plant records for turn-up and troubleshooting an outside plant fiber network.

-Curiosity is welcome and you constructively make recommendations on new approaches to work.

-The ideal applicant must have a clean driving record as well as the required safety skills and be expected to follow our safety program rules.

-Must be able to schedule work and complete tasks in a timely manner to create an efficient work environment.


-Essential Qualifications:

-Professionalism.

-Punctuality and attendance.

-Organize truck tools, materials and maintain at pro level.
-Provides accurate daily timekeeping.
-For Tech II, we are asking for a minimum of 2+ years hands on verifiable experience in ISP/OSP.
-Must submit i9 documents and be legal to work in the U.S.
-Required have a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record.
-Required to pass background check and drug screens.
-Must be 21 years old to operate company equipment and vehicles.


Technician Descriptions:

Tech I: Beginner
Tech II: Intermediate
Tech III: Advanced


Even Better if You Have:

-A degree, technical training, or certification in fiber optics.
-Strong telecom equipment installation, testing, and initial turn-up experience.
-Splicing and restoration experience, experience with both AC and DC power.
-Experience interpreting engineering drawings and providing as-built drawings to engineering.
-One or more years in telecom industry with knowledge of recent technology and relevant experience.
-Strong knowledge of electronics, electricity, fiber optics, and transmission turn-up and test procedures.
-Experience with project management apps and Microsoft suite.
-Ability to work with team members, and both internal and external organizations.
-Eligibility to obtain security clearance for customer locations if required.

Working Conditions:

-Requires some overtime and/or weekends as well as on call duty. We compensate such duty with shift differential rate.
-Must be able to work aloft or on a ladder.
-Must be physically fit, able to lift 50+ lbs., bend/crouch regularly, extensive walking, etc.
-Must be able to work outside in all-weather environments and terrain on a regular basis.
