Pay for this role starts around $23/hour – individuals with direct experience or education can certainly earn more. *This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus! (Payout terms apply).
Qualifications
1+ years of construction experience utilizing construction equipment such as a trencher, plow, and backhoe -OR- current military service, or prior military service with honorable discharge. 1+ years of telecommunications outside plant experience. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a Commercial Learner’s Permit, and must remain eligible for DOT requirements. Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) is required to be obtained within 120 days of starting position.
Other Requirements
Basic understanding of telecommunication products and services. Must be able to operate vehicles with manual transmissions. Upon hire, must successfully complete customer-specific requirements, which may include a background check. Physical requirements may vary based on company needs: Ability to dig, lift and climb. Requires being available for on-call/standby responsibilities and may require occasional travel.
Job Description
The Field Service Technician-Construction II position performs the installation of communications facilities (both buried and aerial) in accordance with industry and TDS standards. Operates construction equipment which includes, but is not limited to, trenchers, backhoes, end loaders and plows in order to place cable facilities. Installs, tests, troubleshoots and repairs aerial and underground cable facilities within TDS Telecom serving areas.
