Job Description
Maverick is seeking a Design Engineer to support our growing engineering team headquartered in Boston, MA with offices across the country. The ideal candidate will have experience designing large scale networks in the telecommunication and electrical engineering fields. The role will comprise of daily interactions with the engineering staff in matters relating to design engineering, field engineering, and permitting. It shall require the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment generating the design, as well as various associated deliverables. The position will provide heavy exposure and job training for the latest engineering methods in telecommunications and power. Some travel and field visits may be required.
Responsibilities:
Works under the direction of the project manager to produce OSP designs consistent with industry standards.
Incorporate client and vendor specifications into engineering designs
Produce and utilize QA/QC checklists
Review construction documents sets and permits.
Interpret fiber splicing diagrams.
Review bill of materials and labor costs.
Interpret field walkout notes and incorporate into designs.
Interpret make ready comments.
Maintain spreadsheets and produce weekly progress updates.
Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor Degree in engineering, computer science, GIS, other related field OR comparable professional experience.
Knowledge of fiber optic cabling and splicing.
Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
Experience with AutoCAD, ArcMap, and 3GIS is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
Ability to work in a past paced environment and balance multiple tasks.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Creative and analytical mind with a willingness to learn
Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol and background check requirements
