Bad that it happened but it sure could've been much worse. I have done the same thing before but luckily no one ever took me for a ride. Someone that desperate might have got it even if you had left someone in the truck.
I bet that was a mess with the police and fiber restoration. Sure hope the job was worth being out there for, and not some 2 or 4 splice tie in.
