I'm sure it has something to do with Size and Weight and Functionality, i havent ran the calan sweep meter that much because i had already used the wavetek sda 5000 thus after toting that huge calan around (boat anchor) i started missing my sda. Not to mention the fact that the sda 5000 has way more features like cso\ctb, spectrum window, tests every audio and video signal,C/N tests, digital tests like Mer ,Ber and quality of signal, sorry you dont get those features with the boat anchor meter.
also like to mention that the new dsam's have a cable modem built in and it runs packet tests , upsteam\ downstream tests, your not going to see that feature on the boat anchor meter either.
ps. for you old guys, there running a special on Geritol over there at the 7-11 :)
