Talked to Jerry last week end, we both got into this about the same time with ASI back in 80-81, therefore we worked around and know (knew) alot of the same people in this trade, Jerry is a good guy and he's got a good heart, he may drift off the deep end once in a while, he's just one of the few that isn't afraid to do it publiclly.
Never had a problem with his postings in fact I rather enjoyed them, and look, you've got to be a little off to be in this business, I have worked for many outfits and many men around the country and as a whole most utility workers I've ever met are living on the edge brother, we are not made for the 9-5 bull shit, I'd rather be out in an easement fighting with lasher or a pissed off dog, as a whole, we linemen do not do well with people outside of our own.
When Jerry called my wifes sister was in the hospital fighting cancer, Jerry talked to her for almost an hour (he himself has had dealings with this monster) now I don't what he said to her but it helped her a lot he gave us 3 cancer help line sites and so on and I'm sorry to say the Teri's sister Rita lost her fight last Sunday at 6:16 PM, Thanks for the kind and comforting words Jerry, (I know your sneaking around in here).
In closing I would just like to say what is life with out entertainment? Lineman, splicers, techs, hey we are all out in the bush every day dealing with the BS that comes with this job willingly, we see more sh#t in a week than most see in a year, we've been chased up poles been chased off poles puked off poles and yes burned em, you have to be a little nuts to jump back up and do it again, so come on guys give him a break.
Sincerely,
Doug Cohen.
