Re: Fiber splicing help

Hey SpeedLasher - I'm working on that drinking beer and boats part!   Hoping to be out there with ya one day.

We come into contact with the Commscope cable (OPGW) all the time....some new, most old that's been on the line for ages.  We are 'certified' on the Commscope stuff for what that's worth.

We've been using the small plumber's pipe cutter on the steel/alum. center tube...and the mid span cutter on the old stuff where the icky has set up....has been working for us pretty well.

PoleHopper....be sure if you use the plumber's pipe cutter that you are taking your time....don't torque on the cutter blade too much or you'll end up beveling the cut and that sharpe edge of the tube will be turned down into your buffer tubes....it's sharpe edge will vibrate over time and you'll end up scoring your tubes or breaking them open in the long run.  Be careful.
