Not true on a couple counts:

First off, slander refers to spoken words; libel refers to any other form of communication--such as written or images.

Second, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that the First Amendment does not require recognition of an "opinion privilege"; so don't count on that being your savior.

Generally, opinions are not falsifiable, but it's a sticky situation.  I wouldn't take any chances.  Back opinions up with facts.  Truth is a better defense in a defamation suit.
