We go in groups of 2 at night, if you have situation you are not comfortable with, have dispatch call the police and wait for them to show up. Its safer and also a CYA on your part we they can't say you didn't try.
And yes I have had homeowners pull out a shotgun on me, for being on their property at night and its not fun, they are just as scared and nervous as the rest of us, put yourself in their shoes.
