Re: MORE on Finding Noise w/ SDA5000

Here in the system im in they patch an oscilliscope to a forward carrier they dont use with a video pic of the oscilliscope on that unused channel. Of course they sample from the return laser of that noisy node, and the rest is simple isolation steps starting with node, moving downstream to the source of ingress. If you have a helper, have him take a handheld cb and key it up and walk down the leg that you have isolated the noise to with a map in his hand so he can mark the equip that he is standing under on the map where the noise level jumps. just take a small handheld tv and plug it in a unused tap port at the isolated leg's active or the test port. This only works if the headend tech is willing to patch the o- scope for you though. Makes hunting return ingress easy, and remember to take some high passes with you. Unless you are in house or paid to fix install generated ingress, then give them the address and let them fix it from there.
Just dont hp the install if they are a digital or hsd cust. unless they aren't home, and the noise is dumping the node or the blade for that matter.
