On-call Environment: We operate a 24/7/365 environment. You will be part of an on-call rotation, and may need to work weekends, holidays and overnight in the event of an outage or scheduled maintenance window. Physical Requirements: You’ll use your hands to type, use power tools. You’ll stand, walk, reach with arms and hands and due to the need to review client sites, may have to step over, climb or balance around obstacles, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Lift up to 75lbs.

Job Description

CATV Technicians are a vital part of our client's service organization. You will provide hands-on maintenance and operational support for data, video, IP video, cable TV, IP phone network core, and distribution equipment. While a big focus will in the scope of providing technical support for our network (60%), you will also be providing support for our cable TV (40%). You’ll do all this onsite interacting daily with our customers, which means you’ll need to have a professional attitude and appearance. You’ll report directly to a regional supervisor.

This is a full time position located in Mankato, MN.

Here’s your job:

Providing exceptional service to customers
Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all CATV services, including infrastructure cabling, hardware, and fiber optic nodes within assigned area
Installs in-line devices on system back bone, amplifiers, line extenders, taps, splitters and power supplies
Executes changes in plant conditions as well as minor plant changes and extensions
Working with Apogee to address end-user and network escalations
Working with Apogee to coordinate client activities (e.g. move-in)
Responding to emergency outages promptly
Monitoring, investigating and retiring equipment alarms
Maintaining own schedule for onsite customer appointments within SLA
Tracking and updating escalation tickets
Comply with Apogee SOPs, safety procedures, and end-user agreement always
Working with Apogee on customer install activities as needed
Generating reports as required
Attending training events as required
Other documentation and administrative duties as requested

Requirements
Experience you bring to the table:
Self-driven and thrives under minimal supervision
High School Diploma or equivalent required
5 years of CATV installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs
Experience with analog and digital CATV systems
Troubleshooting skills in CATV systems using experience and test equipment
Competent in RF and fiber optic theory and coaxial cable system operation, maintenance and troubleshooting
Knowledge of telecommunications concepts, CATV, fiber optic and coaxial systems, electricity and electronics
Excellent written and spoken communication skills (ability to communicate comfortably with college students, university officials, owners/management of properties, and third party vendors)
PC skills utilizing laptops and basic software applications (MS Word, Excel, Web Browser)
Ability to interface with client management, engineering personnel, and outside vendors, particularly during new and expansion installation as an extension of project management team
Ability to read and understand line-style drawings, cable maps, and blueprints
Ability to operate ladders, hand, and power tools
Familiar with test equipment used to maintain optical facilities, RF facilities, power supplies and subscriber drops

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with fiber and copper-based, PON, DSLAMS, RF via coax, and QAM
Complete understanding of electrical, analog, digital, electronic, concepts
Certifications such as SBCA Satellite Fundamentals II, SBCA SMATV, RCDD, etc.
Experience with Dish Smartbox

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Driving and Background: We take the safety of our team and our customers very seriously. You must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. You must also pass a criminal background check to work on any of our customer’s properties.

Travel: High travel is expected.
