Job Description
The Project Engineer will review and support implementing construction plans and fiber projections for our large fiber projects, create project schedules and work with contractors to assure the work is done appropriately and on time. They will also supervise and coordinate subcontractors', field installations; coordinate construction systems scheduling; research and suggest options on constructions means, methods and equipment; estimates materials.
Responsibilities:
• Working knowledge of contract and subcontracts
• Prepare work scopes and organize cost structure
• Prepare, monitor and update Master Schedule
• Document impacts to project
• Identify and formalize changes in the project
• Distribute change documents to all affected parties, issue and expedite requests for quotations to subcontractors and vendors, and review quotes for fairness and accuracy
• Prepare estimate of change order work
• Assemble and submit complete accurate change request in accordance with owner contact requirements - expedite approval of change orders.
• Assemble and notify all parties of approved change orders in accordance with owner contract requirements
• Keep all cost, commitment and projection information current in the job costing system
• Preparing monthly progress reports by incorporating all new subcontract amounts, material purchases costs to date and change orders
• Preparing monthly fee and cost status reports
Qualifications:
• College Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field or equivalent
• experience in the construction industry. Prefer telecommunications fiber optics construction experience.
• Requires engineering knowledge in construction
• Proficient PC skills including a proficiency in various software used in the project controls
• Clear verbal, writing and presentation AND listening skills
• Excellent listening skills; strong communication skills
• Ability to identify and resolve complex issues
• Effective participation in team environment
• 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer
