Pay

Qualifications

If you have Broadband experience we can train you for the position if you do not have OSP experience. A truck and basic tools are required for position.

Other Requirements

Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screen. Valid state driver’s license and non-negligent driving record. Meet safety restriction weight limit of 275 lbs. Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs. Ability to visually perceive differences in wire and cable colors. Must be able to work flexible hours with the understanding that workdays can be in excess of normal hours and some weekend and holiday work may be required. Ability to be “on call” and “on standby” in relation to.

Job Description

Job Purpose
An Inspector will verify completed fieldwork and completes quality inspections of the placement of copper and/or fiber optics cable, conduit, grounding and bonding inspections, hand hole, pedestal and aerial terminal placement, documentation, and RUS (Rural Utility) standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare daily records which include a description of the construction activity, location, onsite contractor, irregularities and corrective action regarding compliance with the drawings, specifications and permits
• Monitor construction crew activities
• Report daily crew activities
• Prepare damage reports if applicable
• Maintain construction standards and specifications
• Monitor compliance with appropriate safety regulations
• Act as liaison between engineering and construction to maintain drawings and source documents, including red-line drawing, handhole and splice locations maps for as-built preparation
• Verify adherence to the construction plans, including depths of placement and offsets from base-line
• Ensures that the work performed in the field is completed on time, according to work prints and specifications, meets quality standards, and is accurately billed
• Customer support and interaction
• Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments
• This position requires travel time of approximately 80% of the time
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
These are the qualifications that are necessary to be considered for the position.

Qualifications include:
• General construction or commercial background
• Knowledgeable of City/County ordinances related to outside plants
• Familiarity with OSP engineering concepts such as copper cable, fiber optic cable, and coax cable
• Ability to read and understand cable records, plats, and associated records
• Ability to work primarily in the field
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

Must be able to work with or without direct supervision
