Proven outside plant construction knowledge • Support field personnel in construction support activities. • Ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point • Naturally model respect for others by listening well, encouraging others, and promptly returning phone calls/e-mails • Ability to keep commitments to customers, suppliers, and other team members • An orientation to problem solving with facts and drive for common goals and priorities to leverage diversity of opinion.
Other Requirements
3-5 years of construction industry experience. Full comprehension of outside plant construction, including aerial and underground, as well as plant maintenance. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrate facilitative leadership abilities working in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high level of employee satisfaction. Professional appearance and attitude; shows a strong ability to multi task. Candidates must be able to pass pre-employment testing (MVR,drug and background)
Job Description
• Knowledge of cable construction management.
• Provide the leadership, policies, and systems necessary to encourage individual contractor performance accountability for the following:
Manage personal and vehicle safety
Provide productivity and work quality
Maintain punctual attendance
Manage vehicle inventory, tools
Help establish and maintain a standard for equipping technicians with tools and safety requirements.
• Help develop safety meetings and skills development curriculum for both new contractors and existing contractors and maintain its accuracy.
• Manage workplace safety and provide safety meetings to contractors as required
• Manage both the productivity and quality of work down to the individual contractor level
• Assure that all technicians exhibit a ‘customer friendly’ attitude promoting VERTEK’s commitment “to serve with passion” and deliver an excellent customer experience.
• Monitor quality control of New Build construction work – conducts on-site QC surveys for compliance with VERTEK construction standards and tracks QC compliance of individual Contractors as well as generating monthly compliance reports
• Resolve customer complaints – investigates service and damage complaints and takes appropriate action to resolve the complaint
• Procure and coordinate construction activities of contractors as needed to meet work flow requirements.
• Work with OSP manager to develop OSP preventative maintenance routines to minimize potential outages
• Review all underground plant locate requests for VERTEK facilities and ensures accurate locating of subject facilities are completed timely.
• Ensure OSHA, NESC, NEC, and VERTEK safety regulations and precautions are followed for all work activities
• Keep up-to-date with OSHA and other regulatory requirements and standards
