This is a full-time; FLSA Exempt, benefit eligible position reporting directly to the regional manager. This position requires the ideal candidate to work independently and have the ability to present and explain working plans, charts and/or scale drawings. Overview:

Position consists of working in AutoCAD or related software to design, edit and present charts, graphs, and working plans for permitting purposes. Must be able to lead a team of in-market engineering personnel consisting of direct reports and potentially subcontractors.

Must possess excellent customer service skills, be willing to face issues in a positive manner and resolve day to day conflicts as they arise.  Travel is typically not required for this position.

This position reports to the Regional Manager. 

Responsibilities:

Examples of the duties performed (Illustrative Only):

Lead a team of in-market engineering personnel consisting of both direct reports and subcontractor resources.
Oversee the activities of field engineering personnel who are responsible for planning, designing, and obtaining permits for the new cable routes.
Coordinate with drafting and drafting personnel located in remote offices to produce construction drawings to be used to construct the network.
Work as part of a multi-faceted team consisting of engineering, construction, project management, and scheduling personnel, all with a common interest of delivering results to the customer
Daily engagement with customer’s engineering team and project management staff via emails / phone as well as occasional in-person meetings
Create “base maps” for Designers and other users as needed.
Digitize as build plant records and maps for inter-departmental use.
Prepare detail pages, plans and other materials for permitting
Using computer assisted drafting/design (CAD) equipment and software to develop complete and accurate electronic working plans, elevations, details, charts and/or revisions.
Create and revise detailed electronic (CAD) working plans, charts and/or scale drawings for telecommunications projects from existing drawings, measurements, sketches, specifications, etc.
Position may be supervising other employees as needed.
Perform other duties to support business needs.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED
7 – 10 years of OSP Engineering Experience
NDS Experience
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Micro Station or other similar software package at an intermediate level
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of the telecommunications industry standards, practices and regulations pertaining to the engineering of fiber optic outside plant facilities
Knowledge of aerial and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
Candidate must be familiar with general permitting requirements for State Department of Transportation, as well as other state, county and city permitting agencies
Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.
Ability to make common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing. Ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations. Ability to collect, organize, disseminate and analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics including algebra and geometry.
Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. Ability to write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors and coworkers up through all levels of management and staff.
Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Must have general computer knowledge.
Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
May be required to work after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed.  
Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.

Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low.
The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate.
Employees performing these job functions are required to lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds in a shift with assistance.
