IBEW/Union scale appropriate to experience. Company will assist with Union placement if not current member. Great benefits available based on Union requirements & probationary period. We provide tools & equipment required.

Qualifications

Min 2 yrs splicing experience in teleco/utility industry. Proven ability to understand/follow directions. Able to record and organize paperwork hardcopy & electronic. Organized with a strong attention to detail, capable of working with minimum supervision. Read/comprehend/interpret plans, construction drawings and scopes of work. Demonstrated expertise in construction skills, including UG/aerial construction, splicing techniques, emergency restoration practices, and general industry knowledge.

Physical Requirements - Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist. Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check. Must possess valid, up-to-date driver's license. CDL A preferred. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours, including work after normal business hours in the event emergency restoration of fiber plant is needed. Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather.

Fiber Splicer Technician

Job Summary: The Fiber Technician position is a mid level to senior level construction worker that can perform both aerial and underground cable and fiber installation work, splice fiber, and has a good working knowledge of aerial and underground rules and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Terminate, splice, and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures including both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber.
2. Proficient in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including Single and Ribbon fusion splicers, power meter and OTDR.
3. Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber, effectively and efficiently
4. Ability to read, understand and update splice documentation and maps as required.
5. Perform aerial construction activities, including but not limited to, installing aerial fiber, lashing, secure splice closures.
6. Perform underground construction activities, including but not limited to, pulling new cable/fiber through conduits, routing fiber cables in manholes, secure splice closures in manholes and handholes.
7. Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
8. Perform other related duties as required.
