Job Description
FIBER RESEARCH TECHNICIAN – WEST PALM BEACH, FL TO THE KEYS
1. Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and surrounding area – Fiber Research Tech. We are seeking people, with experience with fiber routing, splicing, and fiber documentation. THIS IS A LONG-TERM POSITION. Commercial Metro-E feeds. It is preferable, that you live in South Florida. Candidates will need to be able to do the following:
a. Fiber splicing. This is not fiber drop splicing. You must be able to open enclosures, reseal enclosures, identify fibers, splice MUX/DMUX and properly document all fiber splicing.
b. Fiber research –
i. Must be able to identify tie points, for commercial feeds.
ii. Trace fiber back to head end.
iii. Shoot OTDR and record shots.
iv. Report location, using GPS coordinates.
v. Use existing documentation, to determine port usage and designation.
vi. Work with other techs, to complete complicated projects.
vii. Understand routing and construction best practices.
viii. Daily progress reporting, for all jobs issued.
ix. Preferable that you have your own equipment and are self-motivated.
x. Must have valid drivers license.
xi. Must pass background check.
xii. Drug test.
