Job Description
Founded in 1996, The Broadband Group (TBG) represents cities, municipalities, and large scale Master Planned Communities (MPC) throughout North America. Its affiliated company, TBG Network Services (TBGNS) based in Huntsville, Alabama, is responsible for oversight, design, engineering, and construction management of Huntsville Utilities’ 1109-mile fiber construction project, with Google Fiber serving as the Anchor Tenant on the network.
Position Overview
As a Telecommunications Project Specialist, your job responsibilities will be varied, and your role may evolve as needs change. You will work with a team of colleagues on the coordination and logistics needed to manage this multi-million dollar construction project. You will interface with various contractors and Huntsville Utilities personnel.
Primary Job Responsibilities
•Review invoices against construction maps, as-built markups, & bill of materials to ensure accurate billing.
•Compile, track and monitor Contractor quality issues reported by field inspectors for follow-up corrective actions.
•Compile and maintain records of technical information, and prepare reports including but not limited to:
o Construction productivity trackers
o Construction permits
o Construction as-built documentation
o Customer notifications, damage claims, release signatures
o Utility strikes
o Vehicle maintenance & fuel logs
o Safety inspections
o Inventory trackers
o PR & PO trackers
o Invoice trackers
•Assist with periodic warehouse physical (equipment) counts.
•Be able to read and understand packing slips and material deliveries.
•Create Purchase Requisitions based on analyzing upcoming work, BOM evaluation, and warehouse inventory levels.
•Perform other clerical and service functions for the project plus other related duties as assigned.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
•Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, diagrams, and BOMs for fiber construction.
•Fiber and Outside Plant knowledge.
•In-depth knowledge of purchasing and inventory practices and principles.
•Experience with warehouse operations.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word & Excel
•High degree of focus and attention to detail/strong organizational skills.
•Ability to work independently, as well as in a team-oriented environment.
•Valid US Driver’s License, clean driving record.
•Successful passing of any required drug tests
•Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and perform repetitive physical motions of bending, standing, climbing, and walking in construction zones.
Education/Training/Certifications
•High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
Experience/Skills
•4+ years of telecommunications experience required.
•Experience working with large scale construction projects is preferred.
