Job Description
ITC Service Group is currently hiring Fiber Splicers in the New York & New Jersey region. ITC Service Group is a full-service provider of qualified personnel and managed services specializing in wireless, broadband, engineering and staffing.
Successful candidates will have a minimum of two years’ experience in prepping fiber cables for splice enclosures. Candidates must be proficient in fusion splicing, ribbon splicing, OTDR testing, optical wall testing, and troubleshooting end-to-end continuity of fiber optic networks.
Daily duties and responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):
Ability to fuse or mechanically splice fiber optic cables, to include terminating various types of fiber optic connectors
Installation and testing of pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable
Develop standards and specifications for splice drawings and prepare drawing per the specifications
Experience and knowledge using Fiber Optic Scope
Installation and dressing of fiber optic cables (vertical/horizontal)
Serve as a resource to the internal staff on matters concerning splicing practices and procedures
Organize splicing as-builts files utilizing software packages for in-house fiber cable inventory and route designs
Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision
Required Skills:
2+ years of splicing experience (preferred)
Aerial and Underground field related work experience
Proficient in troubleshooting continuity of fiber optic networks
Skilled in fusion splicing, ribbon splicing, and OTDR & optical wall testing
Ability to read and understand maps, documents, enclosure forms, drawings, and diagrams relative to each project’s scope.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to distinguish between colors and read blueprints
Possess exceptional organizational skills and be detail oriented
Capable of working under pressure in a fast paced and quickly changing work environment with deadlines
Ability to work independently without supervision
Able to define and solve problems in the field to ensure job completion
