Qualifications
•High School diploma or equivalent, Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
•5+ years of experience in OSP Fiber and Electronic Design
•2+ years of experience in a leadership role, coaching employees and contract crews
•Field experience in construction, engineering, and maintenance
•Working knowledge of splicing procedures
•Hands on, practical working knowledge of Fiber and Electronic Design
•Experience with municipal and utility permitting required
Other Requirements
•Excellent customer service skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent organizational and time management skills
•Strong computer skills, specifically Auto CAD and Microsoft Office
•Must have a valid Driver’s License and must be able to travel to multiple sites if needed
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
•Research and evaluate various route options associated with the project, which will include aerial and underground options, existing customer conduit, and other third party conduit
•Recommend final route based on the most economical solution as well as the permitting agency’s recommendation
•Develop base mapping and provide field engineering services required to prepare permit drawings, OSP construction drawings, and final as-built drawings in electronic GIS format
•Research existing customer records and records of other third party conduit that may be available through the Telecommunications Act of 1996 or purchase
•Identify and assist in the management process of permits and licenses
•Provide quality standards and leadership to the engineering team with an emphasis on quality
•Design/Engineer new network infrastructure to complete customer contracts as well as network rebuilds to include laterals and backbone infrastructure
•Work with the Engineering and Construction Departments to complete build
Working Conditions:
•Extensive driving to various customer sites
•Exposure to inclement weather conditions
•Office and computer work
•Physical demands may include entry into areas under construction and require walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
