Qualifications
Previous experience splicing aerial & underground coaxial cable - Demonstrated proficiency in new build, coax & pole transfers required - Knowledge of building strand, lashing, pole transfers and grounding required - Comfortable working with a team or alone - Must be capable of working in all temperatures, weather conditions & heights - Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 75 pounds - Reasonable accommodations made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function.
Other Requirements
This position requires frequent travel in which the employee would be away from home. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and 5 panel drug screen. Must possess a valid driver's license.
Job Description
The Coax Splicer is responsible for performing tasks associated with the aerial and underground electronic upgrade and splicing of coaxial cable for cable television systems. Troubleshooting and repair of Coax line and line equipment.
Cable splicers must have an extensive understanding of networking technology as well as strong technical skills.
- Place and install coaxial cable
- Read and interpret work orders, specifications, engineering drawings and/or cut sheets to determine work to be done in sequence of task
- Repair or splice in new line as needed to complete the testing and certification of the project
- Install passive/active devices, pedestals, vaults or coax splice cases
- Splice active and passive CATV equipment
- Rough balance and troubleshoot coaxial cable plant
- Read blueprints, CATV design maps and basic electronic designs
- Operate aerial lift and other related equipment to perform job functions
- Frequently communicate with management on workload status
- May occasionally perform routine construction work such as pulling rope/cables, climbing ladders, using hand tools, digging with a shovel, etc.
- Accurately complete all required company documentation for each assignment according to established company standards and procedures (ie timesheet, truck report, expense report)
W2, 1099 or Corp to Corp if all insurances personally covered.
